Questions about what verification can and cannot show
Can a casino change the server seed after a round has been played?
Not without breaking the commitment. The operator publishes SHA-512 of the server seed before play begins. That hash is a one-way function of the seed: altering a single character of the seed produces an entirely different digest. When the seed is revealed at rotation, hashing it must reproduce the published value. A mismatch is evidence that the seed presented at reveal is not the seed that was committed.
Why does the analyzer need the unhashed server seed?
Because the hash cannot be reversed. Verification runs in the opposite direction: the seed is used as the HMAC key to regenerate each round, and separately hashed to compare against the commitment. Until the operator rotates seeds and reveals the plaintext, past rounds cannot be recomputed by anyone, including the operator's own support staff.
What does a deviation from the expected mean actually indicate?
Very little on its own. Over fifty rounds a dice mean of 47 or 53 is ordinary variance, not evidence of manipulation. The statistical panel exists to show the shape of the distribution, not to deliver a verdict. The verdict comes from the hash comparison, which is deterministic and does not depend on sample size.
Are slot outcomes verifiable the same way?
No. Slots run on the provider's own random number generator and publish no seed commitment. Their fairness rests on laboratory certification of the RNG rather than on anything a player can recompute. This analyzer covers only games that expose client seed, server seed and nonce.
